Exton Exhibit at Interbuild 09

Exton Construction Services (an SIG company) were present at this years Interbuild, NEC Birmingham exhibition, displaying products from their acoustic and fire protection systems ranges. This year the entire floor of the Exton stand was fitted with Karma Multipanel, part of the Karma Acoustic Solutions range.
Steve Nicholson, Sales manager of Exton said "although this year’s show was smaller in terms of overall size, we received a large number of visitors to the stand who were keen to discuss their acoustic and fire protection requirements".
At the show this year the FITA (Flooring Industry Training Association) were performing live demonstrations of Exton's Jumpax self levelling acoustic floor. This also generated significant interest and visitors to the Exton stand.

Grade 2 Listed Building, Gosport Hants
Contractor – Quayside Property Developments
Product – Exton TNF 70 Fire Protection Slab and Karma Multipanel Acoustic Floor

Exton’s acoustic & fire protection products have recently supplied acoustic and fire protection systems for a grade 2 listed building conversion in Gosport town centre Hampshire. The building consisted of a lower floor commercial premises and multiple residential flats above.
Property developer Quayside property developments of Hayling Island, Hampshire were commissioned to provide fire protection to the existing lath & plaster ceiling, along with an acoustic floor in order to control both airborne & impact noise.
The solution to this common problem was to fit 200m2 of Exton TNF 70 fire protection slab between floor joists which provided 90 minutes fire protection without disturbing the existing listed ceiling. 200m2 of Karma Multipanel acoustic floor was selected to provide the airborne & impact sound insulation due to the multiple flanking noise issues associated with this type renovation.
GEA Pharma Systems, Chandlers Ford, Hampshire
Contractor – Concept Interiors, Romsey
Product – Jumpax

Jumpax self levelling acoustic under flooring system was recently used for a major project at GEA Pharma Systems in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. Flooring contractor, Concept Interiors of Romsey, installed 800 m2 of Jumpax on multiple floors due to the extremely unlevel and cracked subfloor.
The site consisted of active office space so minimal disruption and mess were key factors within the refurbishment and so prevented the removal and relaying of the concrete sub floor.
The Jumpax system was laid over the existing defects providing a level surface. Speed and ease of installation were major benefits for this project and a carpet tile final finish was applied. See before and after photographs.
3 bedroomed flat conversion – above a hairdresser and holistic centre, Petersfield, Hampshire
Contractor – E Canterbury Builders Ltd.
Product – Multipanel
“...capacity to substantially surpass Document E sound insulation requirements...”
As Unifloor’s official UK distributor, Exton supplied materials and provided support during and after the renovation of this flat. The challenge was to find a flooring product that would satisfy the local building control department with its quality and ability to acoustically insulate the property.
Multipanel, with its capacity to substantially surpass Document E sound insulation requirements, was a natural choice for the building contractor, who used the product on the entire 90m² floor area.
Flooring upgrade - The Royal Cornwall Hospital. Treliske, Truro.
Contractor – Robert Flooring, Plymouth
Product – Jumpax

Jumpax is an innovative and relatively new underlay product that represents a quick, clean and cost effective alternative to the traditional methods of under floor preparation. Jumpax was selected as especially suitable for this project as the 115 linear metres of floor space due for renewal formed part of a major linking walkway between several hospital departments, which were unable to be closed down whilst the flooring was being replaced.
“...Jumpax minimised the disruption and mess...”
Jumpax was able to provide a smooth finish over the very un-even subfloor that the contractor found beneath the original vinyl flooring due to the break up of the old screed. Richard Roberts, the owner of Roberts Flooring Contractors described how “Jumpax minimised the disruption and mess that was created during the project as there was no need to remove the existing floor covering or screed. In addition, there was no dust when laying Jumpax, which protected the patients using the hospital at the time.”
Jumpax as a flooring system also offers acoustic insulation so was well adapted to the hospital environment where limiting the noise of the trolleys travelling continually along the corridor was a key part of the brief.
Steve Nicholson sales manager of Exton says “We were pleased to work with Roberts flooring on this project which demonstrated the many benefits of using the Jumpax system versus conventional methods usually associated with this type of under flooring problem”.
